The Programme for 2025

This year’s Kavanagh Weekend festival is produced by the Patrick Kavanagh Centre in collaboration with SoFFt Productions and in association with the Patrick Kavanagh Society.  The festival is supported by the Arts Council through their Festival Fund, Creative Monaghan and Monaghan County Council. Highlights include performances from CORMAC BEGLEY on Saturday 27th and SUDDEN WELLS on Sunday 28th, alongside film screenings, the annual Poetry Award announcement, panel discussions, workshops and the increasingly popular Procession of Light again led by the wonderful Armagh Rhymers.  Theatre practitioner and renowned arts producer Declan Gorman will deliver the keynote address and speakers over the weekend will include Pat McCabe, John Connell and Dani Larkin.  Incidentally Dani will also be our inaugural Artist in Residence and she will be popping up over the weekend for a number of happenings and events.  We also welcome back Ceol Connected and their acclaimed production ‘The Land of A Hundred Little Hills‘  which originally started life as a commission from the Patrick Kavanagh Centre.

Of course there are loads of additional (free) activities in the village to enjoy over the weekend. These include music sessions in McNello’s on Saturday night curated by the Cobblestone, a Guided Bus Tour on Sunday morning, our annual commemoration by Patrick Kavanaghs grave and an exhibition of new work from local artist Geraldine Martin entitled ‘A Hole in Heavens Gable’. For more information contact our box office 042 9378560.
