Kavanagh Contemporary

Central to the Patrick Kavanagh visitor experience is Kavanaghs creative practice, the inspiration he took from his environment and the sublime art he produced throughout his lifetime.

To honour this incredible legacy, the Patrick Kavanagh Centre supports creative and artistic practice through various projects and events. This is part of our ongoing enquiry into Kavanaghs life and work and builds on the work of the Patrick Kavanagh Society, custodians of the prestigious Kavanagh Poetry Award for emerging poets since 1971.

We are indebted to partners including Monaghan Arts Office, Creative Ireland, The Arts Council and RTE for their ongoing support.
