Capture the imagination of your students with a visit to the Patrick Kavanagh Centre. Learn all about the poet and his creative self, the significance of his writing, and his place in Irish culture.

Patrick Kavanagh is one of Ireland’s favourite writers responsible for unforgetable poems like Inniskeen Road July Evening, A Christmas Childhood, On Raglan Road, and Canal Bank Walk along with novel Tarry Flynn, for many the definitive account of rural Irish life in the early 20th Century. Here at the Patrick Kavanagh Centre we trace his life journey from young farmer in Inniskeen with a head full of dreams, to fully formed poet living in Dublin through a series of memory boxes, artefacts and touchscreens. Watch his words come to life in our award winning short film, and experience Inniskeen his home village as Kavanagh experienced it almost 100 years ago.
